Post Malone’s songs refuse to stay inside a single genre for long. His catalog moves through trap, pop, alternative rock, acoustic ballads, country music, soundtrack recordings, and collaborations with artists whose styles might seem incompatible until his voice pulls them into the same world. Beneath the tattoos, spectacle, and enormous hooks is a songwriter repeatedly drawn to loneliness, excess, regret, devotion, and the search for somewhere that feels like home.

Post Malone was born Austin Richard Post on July 4, 1995, in Syracuse, New York, and grew up in Grapevine, Texas, after his family relocated when he was a child. His father, who had worked as a disc jockey and later became a concessions manager for the Dallas Cowboys, introduced him to rock, country, hip-hop, and other styles that would eventually shape his genre-crossing music.
During high school, Post experimented with heavy metal, alternative rock, acoustic music, and hip-hop. At sixteen, he created the mixtape Young and After Them Riches. He later moved to Los Angeles and began working with producers and other aspiring artists while developing the melodic vocal delivery that would become central to his records.
Post Malone’s breakthrough arrived in 2015 with “White Iverson,” which he uploaded to SoundCloud shortly after recording it. The song spread rapidly online and led to a contract with Republic Records. His debut studio album, Stoney, followed in 2016 with “Congratulations,” “Go Flex,” “I Fall Apart,” “Too Young,” “Deja Vu,” and “Feeling Whitney.”
Beerbongs & Bentleys arrived in 2018 and transformed Post Malone into one of popular music’s largest stars. “Rockstar,” “Psycho,” “Better Now,” “Candy Paint,” “Stay,” “Paranoid,” and “Rich & Sad” combined trap production, pop songwriting, and rock-influenced vocals. The album debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 and received a Grammy nomination for Album of the Year.
Hollywood’s Bleeding followed in 2019 with “Circles,” “Goodbyes,” “Sunflower,” “Take What You Want,” “Enemies,” “Die for Me,” and “Wow.” The album expanded the range of Post Malone’s collaborations, bringing together Ozzy Osbourne, Travis Scott, SZA, Halsey, Future, Young Thug, Meek Mill, Lil Baby, and Swae Lee.
Twelve Carat Toothache arrived in 2022 with “One Right Now,” “Cooped Up,” “I Like You (A Happier Song),” “Lemon Tree,” “Love/Hate Letter to Alcohol,” “Wasting Angels,” and “Euthanasia.” The record placed more emphasis on anxiety, fame, addiction, isolation, and the emotional costs of enormous success.
Post Malone released Austin in 2023. “Chemical,” “Mourning,” “Overdrive,” “Enough Is Enough,” “Something Real,” “Too Cool to Die,” and “Laugh It Off” moved toward guitar-driven pop and contained no featured vocalists on the standard album. The record presented a more personal and melodic side of his songwriting.
F-1 Trillion followed in 2024 and marked Post Malone’s full-length move into country music. “I Had Some Help,” “Pour Me a Drink,” “Guy for That,” “Wrong Ones,” “Finer Things,” “Have the Heart,” “Nosedive,” and “California Sober” paired him with Morgan Wallen, Blake Shelton, Luke Combs, Tim McGraw, Hank Williams Jr., Dolly Parton, Lainey Wilson, and Chris Stapleton. The expanded Long Bed edition added nine solo tracks.
His catalog has continued through collaborations and stand-alone releases including “Fortnight” with Taylor Swift, “Levii’s Jeans” with Beyoncé, “Dial Drunk” with Noah Kahan, “Brother” with DJ Khaled and YoungBoy Never Broke Again, and “Cold” with BigXthaPlug. Apple Music identifies “Cold,” released in November 2025, as his latest release.
Post Malone’s career has also included acting, business ventures, charitable performances, and a widely viewed 2020 livestream tribute to Nirvana that raised money for COVID-19 relief. His ability to move between hip-hop, pop, rock, and country has made genre less of a boundary than a set of colors he can rearrange from one record to the next.
