New George Harrison My Sweet Lord Video Will Touch Your Heart

New George Harrison My Sweet Lord Video Will Touch Your Heart

Maybe I’m just getting very emotional and just to darn sentimental at sixty years old, but watching the new video for George Harrison’s “My Sweet Lord,” had me pretty teary eyed for most of it. In the wake of the 50th Anniversary celebration of George Harrison’s legendary All Things Must Pass album, which was released on August 6th 1971, George’s son Dhani Harrison and director Lance Bangs have just released a brilliant and stunning video for George Harrison’s renowned classic song “My Sweet Lord.” The video is a celebration of the music of George Harrison and the meaning behind his work done in a way that would have made George Harrison very happy.

Videos done this well could only be made by people who really understand George Harrison’s music and his way of life. Produced by his son Dhanai and record company and talent manager David Zonshine, the two picked the perfect director in Lance Bangs who really understood George Harrison’s spirituality, sense of wonder and humor. All of those attributes of George Harrison’s personality and work are clearly presented in the video. The video doesn’t go for sentiment, but rather looks to celebrate George Harrison’s spirit in a way that’s funny and filled with substance. It’s the music that hits you in the heart as it feels like your hearing the song “My Sweet Lord,” for the first time again.

Fueling the success and awe of this new video is a mind blowing cast of A-List actors and musicians that makes this one of the most enjoyable videos we have ever seen. It’s probably not that hard to gather up any actor or musician to play a role in a George Harrison Video. Leading the cast of actors in the film are  are the stars Fred Armisen and Vanessa Bayer. The two are simply outstanding as they play agents searching for an unknown metaphysical presence that they can’t seem to find.

The video opens with another legend in Mark Hamill playing the head of some unknown bureau receiving a phone call in which the person on the other end of the line states that “it’s happening again.” Mark Hamill turns to Fred Armisen and orders him to find what they simply can’t see. Fred Armisen’s comedic touch is just perfect for the role. We also love how the director Lance Bangs pays tribute to an old George Harrison video entitled “Got My Mind Set On You.” You will know it when you see it.

It’s clear that humor plays a large role in the video right from the start. As the videos moves along, the viewer will witness many symbols of George Harrison’s past  pretty much out in the open. There are also clips form past George Harrison films that show up. We were glad to see Ringo Starr in the video sitting besides Joe Walsh. Those two share one of the videos funniest moment. There are many other celebrity appearances in the video but we don’t want to give it all away. It’s more fun when you are surprised to see someone you might not have expected to show up in the video

The music sounds great in the video as they used the new remix of the song “My Sweet Lord,” that was released on the 50th anniversary edition of All Things Must Pass. This holiday season have been a real special one for Beatles fans as most of us have been celebrating the release of Get Back and watching it on Disney+. The new video for “My Sweet Lord,” just adds to the celebration of the music and spirit of the greatest group of all time and the vital role that George Harrison played in the band and how he continued to contribute to the pop music world and society as a solo artist and just impeccable human being. We miss you George!
