Gerald and Sean LeVert are no strangers to music. They are the sons of legendary singer Eddie LeVert from The O’Jays. LeVert formed in 1981. LeVert is known for singing sexy ballads even though they know how to get down on the dance floor. LeVert’s music was selling better than The O’Jays at one point in time. The students beat the teacher. Gerald LeVert got the group together in 1981 while he was still in high school. He formed the group with his brother Sean LeVert and friend Marc Gordon. The group was signed to Atlantic Records, but they were turned down at first. Record companies didn’t want to sign them at first because they thought they sounded too much like The O’Jays. They recorded an album on an independent label. Atlantic Records reconsidered their decision and signed them.

They released I Get Hot in 1985. It features the singles “I’m Still,” “All in the Way You Dance” and “Dancing with You.” Bloodline was released in 1986. It peaked at number eight on the r&b charts and number 192 on Billboard 200. It features the singles “(Pop, Pop, Pop, Pop) Goes My Mind,” “Let’s Go Out Tonight” and “Fascination.” The Big Throwdown was released in 1987. It peaked at number three on the r&b charts and number 32 on Billboard 200. It features the singles “Casanova,” “My Forever Love” and “Sweet Sensation.”

Just Coolin’ was released in 1988. It peaked at number six on the r&b charts and 79 on Billboard 200. It features the singles “Addicted to You,” “Pull Over,” “Just Coolin’,” “Gotta Get the Money” and “Smilin’.”

Rope a Dope Style was released in 1990. It peaked at number nine on the r&b charts and number 122 on Billboard 200. It features the singles “Rope a Dope Style,” “Give a Little Love,” “All Season” and “Baby I’m Ready.”

For Real Tho’ was released in 1993. It peaked at number five on the r&b charts and number 35 on Billboard 200. It features the singles “Good Ol’ Days,” “ABC-123” and “Do the Thangs.”

The Whole Scenario was released in 1997. It peaked at number 49 on Billboard 200. It features the singles “Tru Dat” and “Keys to My House.”

Like most groups, LeVert ended up breaking up. Gerald LeVert said their last album didn’t do well because of production and his disagreements with Marc Gordon. Gerald LeVert ended up pursuing a solo career. He also joined another group called LSG. Gerald LeVert ended up passing away in 2006. Sean LeVert also pursued a solo career. He also ended up in trouble, which landed him in jail. He passed away in 2008 while in jail. Marc Gordon released an album, but he ended up leaving the music business.
