The Vanilla Fudge have returned with a brand new single in 2021 as sort of a sequel to their break through cover version hit of The Supremes “You Keep Me Hangin On,” released back in 1969. This time, the Vanilla Fudge have returned with another psychedelic cover version of a classic Supremes song. The just released version of The Supremes “Stop In The Name Of Love,” attempts a reboot of the band’s style utilized in the stunning adaptation of a classic Supremes hit. Will this version have the same impact in 2021 as the group had on music back in the 1960s with their radicale recording of The Supremes “You Keep Me Hanging On?” Probably not. We live in very different times. But then again do we really?  2020 pretty much could be put up against any year in the 1960s as far as sheer chaos. Nonetheless, the return of the Vanilla Fudge has nothing to do with pandemonium or any other social, political, economic factors, it’s all about paying tribute to a dear old friend. That dear old friend was former Vanilla Fudge member Tim Bogart who passed away on Jan 13 2021.

The Vanilla Fudge was happy to announce that Tim Bogert is actually on the recording which obviously he completed before he passed away, All four original members of the group including Carmine Appice on drums, Mark Stein on lead vocals and keyboards, Vince Martell on guitar  and Tim Bogert as well as Pete Bremy on bass and vocals who had replaced Tim Bogert in 2009 when Bogert retired from touring are on the recording. The recording of “Stop In The Name Of Love,” was released as a digital download and is also available on youtube which we have included right below for our readers.

Vanilla Fudge’s remakes of the Supremes hit “Stop In The Name,” starts out like so many of their classic recordings with the sound of Mark Stein’s dramatic sounding organ. Stein is met by the powerful thunderous drumming of Carmine Appice as the rest of the band surrounds the two as the fireworks begin to ignite. This is classic 1960s sounding Vanilla Fudge in 2021.

Even though the Vanilla Fudge played a farewell concert in 1970, the band has reformed multiple times over the years. The legendary rock and roll group from Long Island, New York have a huge following that have supported the band for over fifty years. The band has never really gone away in popular culture as their songs have been utilized in  television and film from The Sopranos to Quentin Tarantino’s most recent epic motion picture Once Upon a Time … In Hollywood, released in 2019.

There can be no denying the influence that the band the  Vanilla Fudge had on classic rock music when they arrived on the scene in the 1960s. Rock historians point to the group as being very influential in the sound of heavy metal and progressive rock inspiring bands from Led Zeppelin to Yes to Deep Purple. The first Vanilla Fudge album was released in 1967 entitled Vanilla Fudge. The group would release five important rock albums in the 1960s including their sophomore record The Beat Goes On in 1968, their third album Renaissance also in 1968, Near the Beginning in 1969 and their final and fifth album before their first break up entitled Rock & Roll also released in 1969. Over the years when the band reformed, they would also release new material but nothing had the impact on rock culture like the music they recorded in the 1960s.

It’s been over fifty five years since the band first arrived on the music scene and Vanilla Fudge continues to tour in 2021. The band currently consists of three fourths of the band’s original members with Pete Bremy joining Mark Stein, Vince Martell and the great Carmine Appice. Their next show is scheduled  Oct. 29, 2021 at the Suffolk Theater in Riverhead on Long Island New York. The group will be performing with the ex Doors guitarist Robby Krieger. It’s so great to hear new music from this legendary band.
