Our Top 10 Led Zeppelin Tribute Albums presents the best Led Zeppelin tribute albums done by sole artists as well as compilations consisting of multiple artists. The top 10 list of Led Zeppelin albums are pretty much in random order except for number one which we just fell in love with the first time we heard it. There is quite a bit of variety on this Led Zeppelin Tribute Albums list.
# 10 – Live at the Greek – Jimmy Page And The Black Crowes
We open up our top 10 Led Zeppelin Tribute Albums List with an album that actually contains one-fourth of Led Zeppelin. We weren’t sure if we should include this one or not because, well, Jimmy Page plays on the entire album. Yet it’s just so good that we had to include it. There is the possibility that some fans may not be aware that Jimmy Page joined up with the Black Crowes for a tour many years ago that was a great deal of fun.
Jimmy Page and The Black Crowes played mostly Led Zeppelin covers with a few other cuts once in a while, but this was all about paying tribute to Led Zeppelin. which is still kind of weird because Jimmy Page is part of the band paying tribute. If you never heard this album, you need to hear how great the band sounds and how well Chris Robinson did in interpreting these classic Led Zeppelin songs.

The album has been released on cd but the version you will want to pick up is the double LP vinyl set with a beautiful gatefold and colored vinyl. The arrangements stay close to the originals, but it’s the vocal performance by Beth Hart on this amazing record that will blow your rock and roll mind. I guess I’m too much of a goody two shoes, but even with the amount of albums and CD’s in my collection, I have no “tribute” albums, although there are of course tons of cover songs out there like “All Along The Watchtower” and most jazz bebop music that took standards and made them absolutely brilliant through the performers’ own interpretations.
I especially have no bootlegs. First, it’s not legal, but I doubt any ultra successful bands like Led Zeppelin or Pink Floyd ever lost much money in bootleg recordings. I’ve sure seen them, and heard some, but my experience was that they were inferior all the way around. But that means little today with streaming, millions of people with computers and ProTools making their own albums at home, and some damn good sounding ones at that.
I can only imagine the incredible amount of illegal downloading that has occurred since the internet really took hold. It’s made it very very difficult for bands who already have so much competition to make a living. They have to tour to make a living, long drawn out tours with festivals, especially in Europe and the UK, where those type of shows are much rarer in the US for some reason. I personally wouldn’t know where to find bootlegs although it can’t be too horribly difficult.
The legal tribute/cover albums are tributes to greatness, just like covering The Beatles, but I’m also of the opinion when a great album or song is made, it is almost impossible to do it justice. I in particular think only Jimi Hendrix, who did a live version of “Day Tripper” on BBC with an “unnamed guest” on backups. That person who couldn’t list himself on the great “Radio One” album for contract reasons bore the initials J.Y.L. after his second marriage, for an obvious hint. Can you imagine who that was? But the song was incredible, and I would have had kittens if Jimi had been able to work with The Beatles on “Helter Skelter”.
Jeff Beck did fine jobs on “She’s A Woman” and live on the “Live At Ronnie Scott’s” CD where he did a breathtaking solo guitar version of “A Day In The Life”.
But it’s the masters who do service to the originals. Others just make me want to hear the originals.
