Ella Langley grew up in Hope Hull, Alabama, in a musical family, where she developed her love for singing and songwriting at a young age. She grew up alongside siblings and began performing in informal settings before taking her music more seriously. Langley’s early musical experiences included singing in church and learning guitar from family members, and she began creating her own songs as a teenager. In the late 2010s, she began performing in bars and at local festivals across Alabama, a period that helped her build performance skills while connecting with audiences outside her hometown.
Langley’s professional music career accelerated after she moved to Nashville in 2019 to pursue country music full-time. Before signing a major record deal, she released music independently and built a following on social media, particularly on TikTok, where her songs gained traction with listeners. In February of 2023 she signed with Sony Music Nashville and Columbia Records, a turning point that led to wider industry support and promotional resources. That same year, she released her debut extended play, Excuse the Mess, introducing her songwriting and vocal style to a broader audience.
Her debut studio album Hungover was released on August 2, 2024. Langley co-wrote all of the album’s fourteen tracks, with production by Will Bundy, and the record debuted on the Billboard 200 and the Billboard Top Country Albums chart, marking a significant commercial milestone. The deluxe reissue of Still Hungover, titled Still Hungover, was released on November 1, 2024, extending the album’s presence in the marketplace and supporting her touring cycle. The success of Hungover established Langley’s recording career and set the stage for subsequent radio hits and tour dates.
Among the most notable songs from Langley’s debut album is the single “You Look Like You Love Me,” a duet with Riley Green that became her breakthrough number one hit on country radio. The song also reached the Billboard Hot 100, giving her a presence on mainstream charts, and it earned recognition at the Country Music Association Awards, winning Musical Event of the Year. Another single from the deluxe edition, “Weren’t for the Wind,” was released to country radio in early 2025 and continued her momentum with strong chart performance, including high placements on country airplay and Hot Country Songs charts.
Langley’s touring activity followed the release of her album, beginning with The Hungover Tour in 2024 and continuing with the Still Hungover Tour from January through April of 2025, where she performed headlining dates across the United States. These tours supported her album promotion and expanded her live performance credentials, helping her connect with fans in major markets. Her ability to fill venues and sustain multiple touring legs early in her recording career reflects her growing popularity and fan engagement.
Industry recognition has been a central element of Langley’s rise. She led the 2025 Academy of Country Music Awards nominations with eight nods, including categories such as New Female Artist of the Year, Single of the Year, Song of the Year, and Music Video of the Year for “You Look Like You Love Me,” highlighting her impact across multiple facets of the awards slate. At the 2025 ACM Awards she won several trophies, including New Female Artist of the Year and Visual Media of the Year, underscoring her success as both a songwriter and performer in the country music community.
Outside of her own recordings and touring, Langley has collaborated with other country artists and engaged in co-writing sessions that broaden her creative footprint. She wrote “Choosin’ Texas” with Luke Dick, Miranda Lambert, and Joybeth Taylor, and released it as a single in 2025 with Lambert contributing background vocals. She also released promotional collaborations such as “Never Met Anyone Like You” featuring HARDY, further illustrating her willingness to explore musical partnerships and expand her artistic range.
