Nick, Joe, and Kevin Jonas, originally from Wyckoff, New Jersey, rose to prominence as the Jonas Brothers—a pop rock band that became one of the defining acts of the late 2000s and beyond. Their career began when Nick Jonas started performing on Broadway at age seven, leading to a solo recording contract. After Nick’s first single caught the attention of Columbia Records, the label ultimately decided to sign all three brothers as a group. The Jonas Brothers were officially formed in 2005.
The trio’s debut album, It’s About Time, was released on August 8, 2006, through Columbia Records. Although the album did not achieve major commercial success, its single “Mandy” received moderate airplay. In 2007, the Jonas Brothers were dropped by Columbia, but soon signed with Hollywood Records. Their self-titled second album, Jonas Brothers, released on August 7, 2007, debuted at number five on the US Billboard 200 chart and eventually went double platinum. The album featured singles like “S.O.S,” which became their first top twenty hit on the Billboard Hot 100, as well as “Hold On” and “When You Look Me in the Eyes.”
In 2008, the band released their third studio album, A Little Bit Longer. The album debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 and was certified platinum. Its lead single, “Burnin’ Up,” peaked at number five on the Billboard Hot 100 and became one of the group’s signature songs. That same year, they starred in the Disney Channel original movie Camp Rock alongside Demi Lovato, and their soundtrack contributions helped push their profile even higher.
The Jonas Brothers’ fourth album, Lines, Vines and Trying Times, was released on June 16, 2009, debuting at number one on the Billboard 200 and selling 247,000 copies in its first week. The singles “Paranoid” and “Fly with Me” were featured on the album, which was certified platinum. The group embarked on world tours in support of their releases, selling out arenas in North America, Europe, and South America.
From 2008 to 2010, the brothers were heavily involved in Disney Channel productions, starring in their own series, Jonas Brothers: Living the Dream and JONAS. They also reprised their roles in Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam in 2010, further expanding their reach to a younger audience. By the end of the decade, the Jonas Brothers had sold over eight million albums worldwide and received dozens of Teen Choice Awards, American Music Awards, and Kids’ Choice Awards.
After announcing a hiatus in 2011, the members pursued solo projects. Nick Jonas released solo albums and appeared on Broadway, while Joe Jonas formed the band DNCE, scoring a hit with “Cake by the Ocean.” Kevin Jonas focused on business ventures and reality television. The group announced their breakup in October 2013, following the cancellation of a planned album titled V.
In February 2019, the Jonas Brothers reunited and released the single “Sucker,” which debuted at number one on the Billboard Hot 100—their first chart-topping single in the US. Their comeback album, Happiness Begins, arrived in June 2019 and debuted at number one on the Billboard 200. The album spawned additional singles including “Cool” and “Only Human,” both of which achieved chart success and multi-platinum certifications.
Following their reunion, the Jonas Brothers embarked on the Happiness Begins Tour, playing over ninety shows across North America, Europe, and Latin America. They also released the Amazon documentary Chasing Happiness and the concert film Happiness Continues, documenting their journey back together.
In May 2023, the band released their sixth studio album, The Album. It debuted in the top ten of the Billboard 200 and produced singles such as “Waffle House” and “Wings.” The Jonas Brothers continued their tradition of high-profile festival appearances, television performances, and award show appearances in support of the album.
Throughout their career, the Jonas Brothers have received a Grammy Award nomination, two American Music Awards, multiple Billboard Music Awards, and numerous Teen Choice Awards. They have been recognized for their philanthropy, supporting organizations such as the Change for the Children Foundation, Do Something, and the Special Olympics.
In addition to music, the brothers have been involved in acting, television hosting, and entrepreneurial endeavors. They have participated in multiple charity campaigns, launched fashion lines, and collaborated with major brands. As of 2025, the Jonas Brothers remain active, continuing to tour, release new music, and engage with their extensive fan base.
