The debut album, Wild Life, was released in December 1971 and received a mixed critical reception. It was quickly followed by Red Rose Speedway in 1973, which helped elevate the band’s profile with the hit single “My Love,” a lush ballad that topped the Billboard Hot 100. Though the album had its detractors, it solidified Wings as a commercial force, and it marked a turning point in McCartney’s post-Beatles solo career.
