The promoters of this year’s Glastonbury Festival 2022 have just announced that the greatest musical artist of all time (in our opinion) will headline the Glastonbury Festival on June 25th. This is huge news for the promoters of what has become one of the biggest musical festivals ever held. Paul McCartney will be headlining the second day of the festival on Saturday the 25th. The Glastonbury Festival 2022 opens on Friday night the 24 with mega star Billie Eilish headlining the opening night show. Along with Billie Eilish and Paul McCartney, the Glastonbury Festival 2022 will also feature the supreme Diana Ross as the headliner on Sunday afternoon the 26th. Closing the show as the headliner for Sunday night will be Kendrick Lamar fresh from his half time performance at this years Super Bowl.
Landing Paul McCartney as the headliner for Saturdays nights show is big news for the festival. the legendary Beatle had just announced his upcoming tour of the United States this summer. That left many fans on the eastern side of the Atlantic unhappy that they would not have the chance to see the legendary Paul McCartney. Now those who live in the United Kingdom or anywhere in Europe have a chance to see the ex-Beatle in the town of Glastonbury which is located in Somerset, England where the festival is held.
Its striking the difference in age between the headliners. Billie Eilish comes in the at the youngest at twenty years old. Paul McCartney was already sixty years old when Billie Eilish was born as the legendary artist will be 80 years old while he headlines the Saturday night show. Diana Ross is next in line at 77 years old. Kendrick Lamar is 34 years old. The ages difnnernmes between the healdined jsut dfine the beauty of music and art and how it is all just so timeless.
The history of the Glastonbury Festival goes all the way back to 1970 when the first festival featured T.Rex as the headliner. The success of the 1970 show which only featured about 1500 in attendance fueled future shows as the following year’s show featured David Bowie as the headliners. The last two years saw the cancellation of the Glastonbury Festival dues to the pandmeic. The last Glastonbury Festival was held in 2019 in which The Killers, The Cure and Stormzy were headlines. That show was presented in front of one hundred and fifty thousand people in the audience.
The Glastonbury Festival 2002 will also feature multiple sound stages giveing concert attendees choice in viewing different musical artists throughout the festival. Musical artists have had it rough the past couple of years as just about all concerts were cancelled. Hopefully, the virus continues to fade and the show will go on this year. Below is the lineup of all the musicals artists that will be performing at this year’s Glastonbury Festival.
