Our top 10 “Weird Al” Yankovic albums list takes a look at one of the most original, creative and funny musical artists of the past 40 years. “Weird Al” Yankovic has spent his entire career offering some of the most amusing parodies of pop music classics. There has been no artist that has escaped the hammer of Weird Al’s humor if they have been chosen. “Weird Al” Yankovic was born in 1959 on the sunny shores of California in the United States. Like many musicians and songwriters who tilted towards the strange, “Weird Al” Yankovic was inspired by Dr. Demento. Of course it would be Dr. Demento who would pretty much give “Weird Al” Yankovic his first break. It was on the Dr. Demento show where “Weird Al” Yankovic had his first parody played at the young age of only 16 years old.

“Weird Al” Yankovic’s first single was released in 1979 entitled “My Bologna.” It was a parody of the huge hit that year entitled “My Sharona,” by The Knack. The song was actually released on Capitol Records “Weird Al” Yankovic had himself a major label recording contract. His next single was a spoof on Queen’s “Another One Bites The Dust entitled “Another One Rides The Bus.” The song was a huge hit on the Dr. Demento show. It would later appear on his debut album entitled “Weird Al” Yankovic. However the album would come out to two years after the single was released.”Weird Al” Yankovic’s first album was released in 1983. The album was a huge hit as it went Gold in sales. The album also featured legendary guitarist Rick Derringer who also produced the record.

“Weird Al” Yankovic was made for MTV. Thankfully for “Weird Al” Yankovic the timing was perfect. In 1983 MTV was blowing up all over the world as was Michael Jackson. 1984 wheeler Yankovic released a second album entitled “Weird Al” Yankovic in 3-D. The album featured the single “Eat It,” which was a spoof on Michael Jackson’s “Beat It.” The video for “Eat It,” was hysterical and got a tremendous amount of airplay on MTV. In 1984, “Weird Al” Yankovic had become a household name. “Weird Al” Yankovic’s version of Michael Jackson’s “Beat It,” hit number 12 on the Billboard hot 100. This was an unbelievable high ranking for a song that was a parody.

Throughout his career, “Weird Al” Yankovic has released fourteen studio albums. From and in between those fourteen studio albums, “Weird Al” Yankovic has released forty-six singles. Being one of the most interesting visual artists of the past forty plus years would help spawn over forty music videos. Additionally, “Weird Al” Yankovic has released ten compilation albums. The man has been hard at work since his first single “My Bologna.” Our “Weird Al” Yankovic albums list provides a comprehensive list of all of “Weird Al” Yankovic albums all presented in chronological order with song listings.
