Along with her rival Christina Aguilera Britney Spears would enjoy a successful run on of  best selling albums and huge hit singles. Since her debut album release entitled …Baby One More Time in 1997 to her most recent album entitled Glory in 2016, Britney Spears has released nine studio albums. Our Top 10 Britney Spears songs list takes a listen to ten of our favorite Britney Spears songs.

# 10 –  Hold It Against Me

We open up our top 10 Britney Spears songs list with the great track entitled “Hold It Against Me.” The song was released on Britney Spears seventh studio album entitled Femme Fatale. This is absolutely our favorite Britney Spears album of all time. In fact this top 10 Britney Spears songs list is bookended with two songs from this fabulous album. The album was released on March 25th 2011. The single featured here entitled  “Hold It Against Me,” was actually released a few months earlier on January 11th 2011.

The song was heavily promoted on MTV and pretty much every radio station around the World. The song wound up hitting the number 1 spot on the US Billboard Hot 100. It would become Britney Spears fourth number one single of her career on the US Billboard Hot 100. The album itself found a new maturity in Britney Spears music straddling the lines between pop, electro-pop, and dance pop. We could not think of a better song to open up this top 10 Britney Spears songs list then with this fabulous single entitled “Hold It Against Me.”

# 9 – I’m a Slave 4 U

In the number nine spot on our Britney Spears list is a song that is very similar in ways to the opener on this list at least from a video perspective in style and cinematography.  The song “I’m a Slave 4 U,” was released on Britney Spears third album entitled Britney. The album was released in 2001. On this song and album, Britney Spears attempted to escape her teen image even though she was still technically a teenager at the time when she released this song at 19 years old. Still, this was a radical departure in her music in some ways. The song was released as the album’s lead single as well as being placed as the first song on the CD setting the tone for a new more adult oriented Britney Spears sound. The song was huge hit around the world breaking into multiple top 10 lists in various countries.

# 8 – …Baby One More Time

While we have really enjoyed the second half of Britney Spears career we can’t ignore the first half.  The next couple of songs will feature some of her early hits in order to present a general perspective of her musical career. So we thought we’d go all the back in time to her very first album for this one entitled …Baby One More Time. The song  “..Baby One More Time,” was released as Britney Spears first single from her debut album. It’s the song that instantly turned Britney Spears into a household name.

The song was released on October 23rd 1998. The song was a massive success for Britney Spears as it hit the number one spot in 27 different music charts around the world. The song hit number one in Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Europe, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Scotland, Sweden, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, and of course the United States on the US Billboard Hot 100. It’s safe to say it was one of the most successful pop songs of the 1990s. It helped begin a career of one of the most successful female artists of all time. One that still going strong.

# 7 – Oops!… I Did It Again

Continuing with the early part of Britney Spears career on our Britney Spears song list we turn to the title track of her second album entitled Oops!… I Did It Again.  While the album itself hit number one on the US Billboard top 200, the single peaked at number nine becoming a top-10 hit on the Billboard Hot 100. It’s amazing that at the time of release, Britney Spears had just turned 16 making her one of the most successful young artists of all time.

# 6 – Toxic

We jump  few years ahead in time in the number six spot on our Britney Spears song list to the album entitled In The Zone. This fantastic album was released on November 12th 2003. There were four hit singles released from the record but our favorite one on the record was the second single released entitled “Toxic.” The song reached critical acclaim from both fans and critics and became one of the most important songs of her career as it was the first Britney Spears song to ever win this great singer a Grammy Award. This one is so much fun, its dark, intense, dramatic and has a feel that’s both original and entirely cativating. Listen to how those strings wrap around Britney Spears like silk sheets in the middle of the night. The song was originally offered to be recorded by Kylie Minogue but she turned it down. Britney Spears did an amazing job with this great song written by  Henrik Jonback, Cathy Dennis, Christian Karlsson, and Pontus Winnberg.

# 5 – Piece Of Me

At the halfway point on a Britney Spears songs list we turn to the 2007 album entitled Blackout. While this might not have been one of Britney Spears most successful Studio albums, it’s one that her true fans really loved. There’s just something about this song  that kind of just grabs onto you as this was Britney Spears response to all the hassles that the media had given her over the years. The song “Piece Of Me,” was released as the second single from the album. The song hit number 2 in Australia, Canada, Scotland and United Kingdom. It hit number one in Ireland and number two on the US Billboard Dance Club songs charts.

# 4 -If U Seek Amy

This very clever song released by Britney Spears entitled “If U Seek Me,” stands as one of Britney Spears most controversial and completely captivating and addictive songs she has released. Of course the title sounds like a play on a different set of words when Britney Spears sings it. It’s actually quite brilliant. Despite the song’s lyric, it’s just one of those songs you can’t stop listening to because of its great melody, production and arrangement. The song was released on the album Circus. It was the album’s third single release.

# 3 -Womanizer

In the number three spot on a Britney Spears song list we continue one more time with a selection from the album Circus. This great album stands as one of the strongest albums of Britney Spears career. It’s actually our second favorite Britney Spears album behind Femme Fatale. The song “Womanizer,” was released as the first single from the album. This was a huge hit for Britney Spears as it a sold over three and a half million copies in the United States alone. The song hit number one on the US Billboard Hot 100. The song was nominated for multiple Grammy Awards and received an award by MTV for best pop video. It sold 3.2 million in the U.S. alone. The song “Circus,” was released as the second single from the album. Its a driving rock and roll pop rock song in which Britney Spears records one of the best vocals performances of her career.

# 1 – Till The World Ends

We close out our Top 10 Britney Spears songs list with an incredible recording from our favourite Britney Spears album of all time entitled Femme Fatale. This great song entitled “Till the World Ends” showcased a new sound from Britney Spears that defined a new artistic maturity but still maintained that super sexualized not so innocent “take me on I dare you,” vibe that has always been the hallmark of Britney Spears songs. The spectacular video only added more enjoyment and entertainment power to the song that made us think, if the world was really going to end, I know who I want to be hanging out with.

The song “Till the World Ends” was released as the second single from the Britney Spears album Femme Fatale. The album and song were both released in 2011. The song was composed written by the artist Kesha, as well  Lukasz “Dr. Luke” Gottwald, and Alexander Kronlund.
