Let’s just get straight to it. This is the story that makes rock and roll fans heads spin every year. Last night The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame made it’s official announcement of 2022’s List Of Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame Nominees. These include Pat Benatar, Bush, Devo, Beck, Duran Duran, Eminem, Judas Priest, The New York Dolls, Dolly Parton, MC5, Fela Kuti, Rage Against The Machine, Lionel Richie, A Tribe Called Quest, Dionne Warwick, and Carly Simon.
Before you start screaming to the high rock and roll heavens, let’s take a look at these artists. First and foremost is Pat Benatar who should have been put in a long time ago. This is her second year of eligibility. When she did not make it past the nomination last year fans went nuts. She should make it this year or there will be a tremendous outcry from fans once again. Additionally Judas Priest, The New York Dolls, Rage Against The Machine, Bush, Eurythmics, Kate Bush, Devo, Fela Kuti and Dionne Warwick have been nominated in past years but never made the final cut. We would argue that out of that list of bands besides Pat Benatar, Judas Priest, The New York Dolls, Kate Bush and Rage Against The Machine should make the cut. However odds are they all won’t because of the new nominees this year.
First time nominees this year include Duran Duran, Beck, Eminem, Carly Simon, Lionel Richie, A Tribe Called Quest, Dolly Parton and Carly Simon. Out of this new group the one lock will most definitely be Eminem. Most rock fans would argue that Eminem is rap, not rock and roll and should not be put into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame. It’s a pretty valid argument from that perspective. However as we have seen in the past, the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame bases it’s criteria on how much artists have contributed to pop culture and mass culture in general. The next pick who may be put in as a first time nominee will probably be Dolly Parton based on her longevity and popularity. Once again, not rock and roll but the Hall doesn’t seem to care about that.
The Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame does not put many artists in each year. It’s usually between five and seven. So out of the seventeen nominations this years, ten to twelve of them will probably not make the cut. Below are our seven artists we think the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame will induct this year. These picks are based on who we think the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame will choose.
Probable Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame Inductees
- Pat Benatar
- Judas Priest
- Eminem
- The New York Dolls
- Dolly Parton
- Lionel Richie
These are not our picks above, it’s simply the artists we believe the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame will induct based on their past choices. If we got to choose which ones out of the seventeen nominees, these below would be our picks
- Pat Benatar
- Judas Priest
- Kate Bush
- Rage Against The Machine
- The New York Dolls
Once again, there are still so many legendary rock and roll artists who were failed to even be nominated. At the top of our lists stands Jethro Tull, Iron Maiden, Emerson Lake & Palmer, Foghat, The Marshall Tucker Band, The Outlaws, Warren Zevon, Harry Nilsson, Sammy Hagar, Joe Cocker, and so many others……
We will find out the inductees when the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame announces its picke on May 22, 2022.

Why is Ozzy getting snubbed again? His name never gets mentioned. His solo career was so much more than his time with Black Sabbath
I agree, he should have been in by now.
OZZY!?!?!? How about Steppenwolf.?? Kickin’ ass since ’67!
Agreed with Steppenwolf. Love that band
Exactly. the Wolf should have been in a LONG time ago.
Again, Grand Funk Railroad, 3 Dog Nights, Johnny Rivers, Petula Clark, The Association, Chubby Checker, Gary Puckett, Ten Years After should be on the list of nominees.
Great picks and yes that all deserve to be in. Grand Funk and Three Dog Night ruled 70s radio
And where is Ian Hunter??!
Between what he did with MottThe Hoople and his incredible solo career he should have been in many years ago.
The New York Dolls? Why…
How about Neil Sedaka? He has had so many chart hits since the late 1950’s.
The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has nothing to do with the history of rock and roll!! Don’t think I would ever darken it’s doorsteps!!!
How about Paul Rodgers and Bad Company?
He is one of the best voices in rock.
This list, as a whole, makes a mockery of the “Rock and Roll” hall of fame. So so many real rock artists, as listed above and more that are not in, and so many that are truly not rock artists getting nominated or elected. It has become a joke. I had interest in visiting the hall, now I don’t. Change it to “Popular Music Hall Of Fame” if these are the acts you are going to nominate and stop insulting the term “Rock and Roll”!!
How about Kansas? With arguably the most played classic rock song of all time (after Stairway to Heaven) it is strange they don’t get a nomination. Plus, they were the first, perhaps only, American band of the classic prog era. Strange.
While we agree Kansas should be in, there weren’t the first American Prog rock band and definitely not the only, there were hundreds of Americans progressive rock bands during that time period.
No Foreigner, no Three Dog Night, no Boston? What a joke
