Do you remember how big the Bangles were in the 1980s. They weren’t overnight Sensations I took them awhile but once MTV got a hold of the video tour for a Walk Like an Egyptian, the Bangles became massive stars worldwide. Who didn’t fall in love with Susanna Huffs in that video? I know I did. The Bangles originated in Los Angeles, California in 1981. The group was founded by sisters Vicki and Debbi Peterson along with Susanna Hoffs. The lineup solidified with the addition of Michael Steele in 1983, replacing original bassist Annette Zilinskas.

Over the years, The Bangles released five studio albums, two live albums, and several compilations. They achieved significant commercial success with hits like “Manic Monday,” written by Prince, and “Walk Like an Egyptian,” both of which topped the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Their 1986 album Different Light peaked at number two on the Billboard 200 chart and received multi-platinum status. Other notable hits include “Eternal Flame” and “Hazy Shade of Winter.” The band won several awards and nominations, including MTV Video Music Awards and BRIT Awards. The Bangles disbanded in 1989 but reunited in the late 1990s and continue to perform and record music.
