Conan Gray is an American singer-songwriter and social media personality originally from Lemon Grove, California. He spent his early childhood in California before moving to Georgetown, Texas, at the age of twelve. Gray began his music career by uploading vlogs, covers, and original songs to YouTube in 2013 while still a teenager. His online presence grew steadily, with his early original track “Idle Town” receiving millions of views and streams, which established him as a promising new voice in pop music.
In 2018, Conan Gray signed with Republic Records and released his debut EP, Sunset Season, in November of that year. The EP featured five tracks, including “Idle Town,” “Generation Why,” and “Crush Culture.” Sunset Season received positive reviews and charted on the US Billboard 200. Gray toured North America in support of the EP and quickly gained a following among young listeners for his relatable lyrics and melodic songwriting.
In March 2020, Conan Gray released his debut studio album, Kid Krow. The album debuted at number five on the US Billboard 200 and included the singles “Maniac,” “Wish You Were Sober,” and “Heather.” “Maniac” charted internationally, and “Heather” became a viral hit on TikTok and reached the top 40 in multiple countries, including the US and the UK. Kid Krow was certified gold by the RIAA and solidified Gray’s status as a rising pop star.
Gray continued to release singles following the success of Kid Krow, including “Overdrive,” “Astronomy,” and “People Watching” in 2021. In June 2022, he released his second studio album, Superache. The album featured tracks such as “Memories,” “Yours,” “Jigsaw,” and “Disaster.” Superache debuted at number nine on the US Billboard 200 and charted in several other countries.
Conan Gray has been recognized for his songwriting and vocal performance.
