Chris Brown proved that you can triumph over adversity. Despite his personal demons, he has been able to sustain a successful music career. He is a successful singer, dancer, songwriter and actor. He has a lot of hit songs on his own as well as with other artists. Let’s get to know the artist a little better. Chris Brown was born Christopher Maurice Brown on May 5, 1989. Like most singers, Brown got his start in the church. He was singing in church choirs as well as talent shows at a young age. He taught himself how to sing and dance at a young age. He credits Michael Jackson as his inspiration.

He was signed to Jive Records at 15 in 2004. He released his self-titled debut album in 2005. The album debuted at an impressive number two on the Billboard 200 charts. That was a great feat for a new artist. It sold 154,000 copies in its first week. The first single “Run It” made him one of the first male singers to have his debut single make it to number one on the charts. The song was number one for an amazing five weeks. The other singles off the album didn’t do too badly either. “Yo (Excuse Me Miss),” “Gimme That” and “Say Goodbye” appeared in the Top 20 on the charts. The album sold over three million copies.

He did some acting in between albums. He appeared on One On One, Brandon T. Jackson, and The O.C. He also appeared in the movie Stomp The Yard. He released his second album Exclusive in 2007. It debuted at number four on the charts. It sold a whopping 294,000 copies in its first week. It received positive reviews. The album debuted at number six and sold 146,000 copies in its first week. It sold more than one million copies.

He released another mix tape in 2015 called Before the Party. In 2015, he released his seventh album Royalty. He named this album after his daughter. It sold 184,000 copies in its first week. In 2017, he released the double disc album Heartbreak on a Full Moon. The album debuted at number three on the charts. The producers wanted a clean version so it could be radio friendly. The music has an upbeat sound that is determined to get you on the dance floor. The drumbeat is infectious and is guaranteed to have you bumping. It’s the perfect music to listen to when you are in a club or just feel like dancing.

The music doesn’t sound authentic. It sounds like it’s computer generated, but it’s still very catchy. The music never suffers from boredom even though it doesn’t sound like genuine music. The artists could have made this a dance track, but slowing down the beat gave the listeners a chance to focus on the lyrics. This anthemic song is about all of their failed relationships. This is the perfect collaboration for the three artists because they all broke up with their girlfriends when this song was released. Brown broke up with Rihanna after an altercation that ended with a domestic violence charge. Tyga broke up with his girlfriend Black Chyna and Kevin McCall broke up with Eva Marcille.

This song is relatable to anyone who has been in a bad relationship and wanted to end it. They poured their emotions out in the lyrics and you could tell that they were feeling the pain of their breakups. They were very angry at the time the song was recorded. This song was a great way for Brown to show off his smooth and silky voice. He does utilize AutoTune, but he doesn’t rely it too much for the track. Tyga and McCall’s verses were on fire. Their rhyming skills were excellent and in time with the beat.

# 8 – Loyal ft Lil Wayne and Tyga

This bitter song is from the X album. The dance song has a Hip Hop sound. This angry song is about women who are unfaithful. It’s a popular song with Brown’s fans, but it could be considered sexist because he refers to women as “hoes”. It’s not a song for women because of the offensive lyrics. Most women don’t want to be referred to as “hoes”. If you can overlook this portion of the song, you could still enjoy it. The beat will have you on your feet on the dance floor. It’s bouncy and upbeat despite the theme of the track. The musical arrangement is thumping. Brown showed some versatility in the verses because he uses a lower register. He uses his signature falsetto in the hook and once again takes advantage of AutoTune. He uses it heavily in the hook. Tyga’s verse is fire. He’s so passionate while he spits his verse. Lil Wayne’s appearance is brief, but he does make an impact while he’s in the song.

This heartfelt song is from the Exclusive album. This song has a dance and pop sound. It also has elements of European, techno, and house music. The passionate song is about falling in love with someone. He sings about waiting his entire life for a woman like the one he’s talking about in the song. This is one of Brown’s hit songs that don’t feature any other artists. It gives you a chance to just focus on his singing without the help of any collaborators. Polow da Don was channeling his inner Timbaland when he came up with the music. It sounds like something similar to Timbaland’s songs. Chris Brown’s vocals are synthesized over a drumbeat, which is usually featured in Timbaland’s songs. The music is very dance friendly and is perfect for club music. The swelling synthesizers are typical in club songs. The music is different from his previous work up to this point. His music was more r&b and Hip Hop friendly until he took a chance on this sound. He wanted to show the world that he could do a dance hall track and he proved he could do it. The music is a dance floor anthem. It would be very hard to recognize Brown’s vocals on this track. He sounds very different. His vocals are much deeper in this song than they are on any other one.

This sexy song is about the guys wanting their girlfriends to get rid of their inhibitions in the bedroom. They want their women to be freaks in the bedroom. The song features a sample of the Showboys’ song “Drag Rap”. The sample works perfectly for the song. The music is hypnotizing and head bopping. We dare you not to move while you hear it. It’s perfect to listen to during the summer even though it can be heard throughout the rest of the year. The track features an extremely catchy and unforgettable chorus. Brown sings in his signature falsetto voice, which blends well with the music. He sings in time with the beat changes and that makes him sound even better. Young Thug sounds similar to T-Pain. His voice is AutoTuned throughout his portion of the song. His verse is a little hard to understand without looking at the lyrics for the track. The song is an earworm and will stay in your head long after you have finished listening to it.

# 3 – She Ain’t You

The affectionate song is from the F.A.M.E. album. The track has an r&b and pop sound. The passionate song is about him falling in and out of love. He compares his current love to his former flame. The song features two samples that are the perfect compliments to the track. It features the sample from Michael Jackson’s “Human Nature” and SWV’s remixed version of “Right Here”. He made the right decision by using these samples. Brown wanted to dedicate a song to Michael Jackson because he’s his biggest inspiration. The music is a big star of the song. If you are a fan of “Human Nature” and/or “Right Here”, you will definitely enjoy the music on this track. The music hooks you as soon as you hear the first drumbeat. There is no mistaking the music. Brown’s vocals are layered because he uses a double. He sings in a lower register for one of the vocals and his signature falsetto in the other vocal. Sevyn Streeter does an excellent job in the background. She sings the harmony from “Human Nature”. She does this part in the bridge of the song. There aren’t enough compliments for the song.

# 2 – With You

This sentimental song is from the Exclusive album. This ballad has an r&b and pop sound. This emotional song is about Brown pouring his heart out to the woman he loves. He expresses how much he loves and needs the woman in his life. There is some trivia about this beautiful song. The song is inspired by the love of his fans. The song is stripped. It features an acoustic guitar and a drumbeat. The music is similar to Beyonce’s “Irreplaceable”. The music is soft and melodic and perfect for slow dancing. The chorus is simple and easy to remember. He repeats the title throughout the chorus. Brown’s vocals are smooth and silky. He sings in a lower octave from his normal tone. He sounds like a combination of Michael Jackson and Usher. He missed an opportunity to hit a high note after the bridge, but that doesn’t take away from how great the song is. This song could have easily been number one if something else didn’t beat it.

This heartbreaking song is about a relationship being over. There is some trivia for the song. “No Air” was originally meant for a male singer. When Sparks heard the song, she wanted to sing it herself. Harvey Mason agreed to let her sing it if the song became a duet. Mason wanted Chris Brown to sing the song with her. Mason made the right decision making the song a duet because it’s a winner. Sparks’ and Brown’s voices compliment each other very well.

Sparks is a power balladeer so Brown took a big risk singing with her. She has outstanding vocals and it showed with this song. She belts throughout the track. Brown shows that he’s no slouch when it comes to power singing. He’s able to keep up with her. Brown’s out of his comfort zone, but he takes chances that he doesn’t take on his own songs. He did power singing of his own. He holds impressive notes along with Jordin Sparks. This song shows just how good of a singer Chris Brown is. This song is absolutely flawless and deserves the top spot on this list.
