Elton John: Never Too Late Documentary To Premier In September

Elton John may be retired from the road for now, but that doesn’t mean the legendary rock star will stop releasing new music and films for his fans. Thank goodness for that. Elton John is set to unveil his new documentary at the Toronto Film Festival this coming September. The documentary, titled Elton John: Never Too Late, offers a deep dive into the iconic musician’s final tour, the Farewell Yellow Brick Road Tour, which astonishingly grossed over $900 million. This film, co-directed by R.J. Cutler and Elton’s husband, David Furnish, aims to offer a comprehensive look at the legendary singer’s life. It features a mix of historical concert footage spanning five decades, personal journal entries, and contemporary scenes capturing Elton with his family.
The documentary will also highlight his last performances in the United States, culminating in a memorable November show at Dodger Stadium. Originally scheduled to end in 2021, the tour extended over five years due to the pandemic, finally concluding in July 2023 with a poignant final concert in Stockholm. Reflecting on the tour, Elton shared his emotional journey, expressing gratitude toward his fans and the bittersweet realization of his touring career’s end.
With the tour now behind him, Elton is focusing his energies on philanthropic efforts, particularly through his work with the Elton John AIDS Foundation. Following its debut in Toronto, the documentary is slated for later release on Disney+, promising fans a closer look at the star’s profound impact on music and culture.
