Our Top 10 Chunk! No, Captain Chunk! songs list looks back at the songs of one of the most interesting bands to come along in the 21st century. Formed in Paris in 2014, the band Chunk! No, Captain Chunk! really don’t sound like a band from Paris. This group sounds like they are from L. A. or New York. And that depends on not which song your listening to by them, but what part of the song your listening too. This is a band that blends so many styles together you never know what to expect in any one of their songs. If your not familiar with this great band, we think you find them a lot of fun.

# 10 – In Friends We Trust

We open up our top 10 Chunk! No, Captain Chunk! Songs list with the smoking punk infused 90s sounding song “In Friends We Trust.” This great tune stands as the band’s first single release of their career.  We love those guitar strums in the middle section of the song. Just awesome stuff. And of course they throw in the occasional death metal roar which kind of feels odd at points because this music is just way to sweet for death metal, but of course that is what makes this band so original. The song was released on the album entitled Something for Nothing which came out about three months after the single was released in September of 2010. Chunk! No, Captain Chunk! had arrived.

# 9 – All Star

Punking sweetly along with our top 10 Chunk! No, Captain Chunk! Songs list we take a listen to the band’s very cool cover of Smash Mouth’s “All Star.” The band put their own spin on the song’s verses but pretty much sticks close to the original on the chorus. They really had no choice since the chorus on the song is so distinct. The song was released on the album entitled Punk Goes 90’s 2. The album was released in 2014. The video the band made for the song is a whole lot of fun to watch. Don’t miss it.

# 8 – We R Who We R

In the number eight spot on our top 10 Chunk! No, Captain Chunk! Songs list we present the song entitled “We R Who We R.” Now this is what we call a real remake. The band takes the Kesha classic and gives it a brand new coat of paint and an entire new house built underneath it too. Those death metal vocals always crack me up and they sound a bit amusing on this one. Yet, the band makes it work well. The cover of the Kesha classic by Chunk! No, Captain Chunk! was released on the album Punk Goes Pop 4. The tribute album was released in 2011. Oh yeah, DJ turn it up!

# 7 – Blame It On This Song

In the number seven position on our top 10 Chunk! No, Captain Chunk! songs list is the song entitled “Blame It On This Song.” This one grabs you right from the crunchy guitar opening. There is a little bit of Led Zeppelin in this opening riff, but that all goes out the window as those youthful vocals take over and it’s back into the land of Blink 182 meets Simple Plan sound. Very cool chord changes on the bridge sort of come out of nowhere. The song was released as a stand alone single on youTube. Boy have things changed since the days of the 70s.

# 6 – Drift Away

Landing in the number six spot on our top 10 Chunk! No, Captain Chunk! Songs list we present the song “Drift Away.” No, this has nothing to do with the famous Dobie Gray song. “Drift Away,” is a brand new original song by Chunk! No, Captain Chunk! It’s a really new song as it was just released a couple of months ago as of this writing in 2021. The song “Drift Away,” was released on the album Gone Are The Good Days. It stands as the fourth studio album by Chunk! No, Captain Chunk! The song was placed as the second track on the album. There is definitely a new found maturity in the band’s sound on this track. Yet, they still retain that youthful modern punk sound that all those 2000s bands seemed to have inspired in this group.

# 5 – Captain Blood

At the midway point on our top 10 Chunk! No, Captain Chunk! Songs list is the raging song entitled “Captain Blood.” This one rocks very hard and yet it still has those sweet melodic vocals sailing over the death metal double bass drum playing and the sinister guitar riff. It’s just such a wonderful combination that is so original in many ways. The song “Captain Blood,” was issued on the album entitled Something for Nothing. The album was released in 2010. It was the first and only single released from the album.

# 4 – Insanity

At the number four spot on our top 10 Chunk! No, Captain Chunk! Songs list we present  a rare but immensely brilliant song entitled “Insanity.” The song is a bit rare because it was not included on the band’s original release of the album Pardon My French. It was later added to the Pardon My French Deluxe Version as a bonus track. Come on, all fans love deluxe versions. It’s on the deluxe version where we find the gems and that is exactly what this jubilant track is.

# 3 – Haters Gonna Hate

Cruising along on our top 10 Chunk! No, Captain Chunk! Songs list we present the song entitled “Haters Gonna Hate.” The song was released on the album entitled Pardon My French. The album was released in 2013. It was never released as a single but a great video was made for the song. It was sort of a “Revenge of the Nerds,” type video. It looks like the group had a lot of fun filming this one.

# 2 – Bitter

We love the opening shot of the video where a hand places a homemade VHS  tape in a VCR right next to a Buzz Lightyear. Just perfect. And that’s pretty much what we think about this song. “Bitter,” is one of the best singles the band has ever released. Boy does this baby have kick. The song “Bitter,” was released on the group’s most recent album entitled Gone Are The Good Days. It was the first of three singles released from the album so far.

# 1 – The Other Line

As we arrive at the number one spot on our top 10 Chunk! No, Captain Chunk! Songs list we present the kicking tune “The Other Line.” This one starts out with that Kids In America meets Green Day meets Blink 182 guitar line that’s usually a slam dunk for a great radio hit. You gotta just love it. The song “The Other Line” was released on the album entitled Get Lost, Find Yourself. The album was released in 2015. It was the second single released from the album. The song featured Bert Poncet on lead vocals, Éric Poncet on lead guitar, Paul “Wilson” Cordebard on rhythm guitar,  Mathias Rigal on bass and Bastien Lafaye drums. The song was produced by Kyle Black who did an amazing job on the sound of this fabulous record.
