Our Best Rock Albums Of 2016 list presents another year in which classic rockers make big comebacks with some spectacular album releases. Standing at the top is sadly the final David Bowie studio album entitled Black Star. For his final album before he passed away, David Bowie released one of the best records of his career. The Rolling Stones returned to the new release racks with their first new studio albums in years with their record Blue & Lonesome. While the album contained only blues covers, it was wonderful to get a new album by the Rolling Stones that stood as a tribute to the first few albums of their career that were also loaded with blues covers.
On the singer-songwriter front, Elton John returned with another strong album called Wonderful Crazy Nights. Paul Simon also released another record that critics raved about in Stranger To Stranger. Other classic rock artists to release new studio albums in 2016 included Santana, Sting, Eric Clapton, The Pretenders, Heart, Iggy Pop, and many others.
