Sammy Hagar stands as one of the greatest rock and roll singers of all time. Not only is Sammy Hagar one of the greatest vocalists to ever grace the concert stage, he has been one of the most consistent rock and roll artists of the past 50 years. Sammy Hagar’s first touch of Fame began in the 1970s as the lead vocalist for the band Montrose. Instantly his vocals began to turn heads. After only recording two albums with Ronnie Montrose. Sammy Hagar left the band and began his own solo career. It didn’t take long for Sammy Hagar to begin attracting a huge loyal following. Opening up for bands like Boston, Sammy Hagar completely knocked out audiences night after night. For over a decade from the mid-70s to the mid-80s, Sammy Hagar released a catalog of hard rock albums that stand as some the greatest rock records of that time period.

While Sammy Hagar had been one of the most popular rock and roll stars of the 70s and early 80s, his fame would become elevated even further when he was chosen to join Van Halen as the lead singer replacement for David Lee Roth. Of course, comparisons between the two began almost instantaneously. There would always be a David Lee Roth camp, but very quickly, the Van Halen Hagar camp began to form. Sammy Hagar’s vocal ability enabled Eddie Van Halen to write music that he was unable to utilize within David Lee Roth’s vocal range. It was very easy to hear how excited Eddie Van Halen was to have Sammy as part of the band.

For almost 10 years from 1986 to 1995 Sammy Hagar, Eddie Van Halen, Michael Anthony and Alex Van Halen recorded four studio albums together. For various reasons, Sammy Hagar would leave the band in the mid-90s. There would be a couple of reunions resulting in a few recordings released on Van Halen’s Greatest Hits albums and a tour, but Sammy Hagar and Van Halen never released another completely full studio album ever again.

After leaving Van Halen, Sammy Hagar went back into the studio and restarted his solo career. While at the same time, he would become one of the most successful businessmen in the alcohol business creating his Cabo Wabo tequila which he sold eventually for millions of dollars. Sammy Hagar would form his own backing band that he called the Wabaritas.

In 2008, Sammy Hagar formed a new supergroup called Chickenfoot. With this band, Sammy Hagar would reunite with his ex-Van Halen bandmate Michael Anthony. The band would also include the legendary guitarist Joe Satriani and the Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith. Chickenfoot would release two studio albums and a live recording.

In 2014, Sammy Hagar and his friend Michael Anthony would form another supergroup called The Circle. This band would also include Sammy Hagar’s Waboritas guitarist  Vic Johnson and drummer Jason Bonham. The Circle would release three studio albums between 2019 and 2022. The band would constantly tour performing hits from Sammy Hagar’s solo career, his Van Halen days as well as some classic Led Zeppelin songs and many others.
