David Foster was born David Walter Foster on November 1, 1949. He got his start in music by joining a back up band for Chuck Berry in the 60s. In the 70s. he worked with the pop group Skylark. They managed to have a Top 10 hit with “Wildflower.” When the band broke up, he joined another band. In 1975, he worked with George Harrison on a couple of his albums. In 1979, he worked with Earth, Wind & Fire. He won a Grammy for their hit song “After The Love Has Gone.”

He helped put the group Chicago on the map. He provided hits for Kenny Loggins in the 80s. He did the musical score for the movie St. Elmo’s Fire. He became known for doing movie soundtracks. In addition to St. Elmo’s Fire, he did the musical score for The Secret of My Success, Stealing Home and The Bodyguard soundtrack. He would go on to work with several other artists and soundtracks.
