Our Best Rock Albums of 1999 looks back at the final year of the 20th century in rock and roll music. It was a year in which pop culture begins to see radicle changes in music as a new wave of your singers like Britney Spears, Jenifer Lopez and Christina Aguilera released their debut albums which would have tremendous success in dominating radio and television. Nonetheless, true rock and roll was still alive and well, and saw debut albums by bands that were heavy and very original sounding. Groups such as Slipknot, Black Label Society The White Stripes, and Kittie released their debut albums in which rock culture is greeted with a very diverse mix of new sounds and styles. The old guard such as Tom Waits, Sting, Tom Petty and The Pretenders released great new albums. However, the album that received the most fanfare was by the band Rage Against The Machine who were a product of the 1990s as they would continue to become one of the most respected bands in the rock and roll scene.
