The year 2000 saw debut albums by Coldplay, Ryan Adams, The Distillers, 3 Doors Down, Dashboard Confessional, Nine Days A New Found Glory, Good Charlotte and many more. Some of these were groups that would set the tone for a new style of rock and roll that merged elements of punk, rock, and metal. Younger teen music fans loved these bands. Still, there was plenty of music for older rock fans who grew up in the 60s and 70s with really strong releases by Paul Simon, Joni Mitchell, and the long-awaited return of Steely Dan who released their first studio album in twenty years. U2 returned to their mid-80s sound after their trio of 90s albums that crossed many musical genres. And of course our old friend Sammy Hagar once again delivered another in-your-face heavy-duty rock and roll album that did not disappoint.
