Our Best Rock Albums Of 2017, presents the best albums from a year that saw legendary rockers like Deep Purple and Robert Plant deliver great new records. Deep Purple had been flying under the radar for most of the 21st century still releasing killer rock records that went sort of unnoticed. It was hard not to become aware of their 2017 album which was one of their strongest efforts in years. Robert Plant’s Carry Fire also received rave reviews for becoming one of the most enjoyable listens of his solo career. 2017 also saw the release of another smoking Robin Trower album who just never releases a bad record. Also in the top 10 was a cranking rock and roll blues album from our friend Kenny Wayne Shepherd. For fans of Pink Floyd, Roger Waters returned with a new solo album.
2017 was also a year to celebrate the female artists of rock and roll as Sheryl Crow issued a new album called Be Myself that once again defined her status as one of the truly great rock and roll artists to come out of the 1990s. Other great album releases from female rockers and poets included hot new releases from Alison Moyet, Rhiannon Giddens, the always reliable Ani Difranco, Björk, Tori Amos, Aimee Mann, female led bands like Blondie and Paramore, and a to die for album by blues rocker Samantha Fish.
